You’ve been given the opportunity to have one current Southampton player round to yours for Christmas dinner. Who is it you’re requesting and why?

Ed: The player I’m inviting around for Christmas dinner is Charlie Austin. In interviews and club media he seems to have a lot of banter about him so he would bring some entertainment to the table. It would be good to have a game of Monopoly with the lad as well, despite the rumours that he cheats at that.

Ewan: I think I’d have Oriol Romeu round for the turkey, he is a well-spoken, genuine bloke who has genuinely taken to the club – and I bet he has some interesting stories about Chelsea and Barcelona, two of the planet’s biggest clubs.

Jack: At Christmas time you’re always looking to have fun and a good time. For that reason, I think I would probably pick Charlie Austin. He seems to be one of the biggest jokers at the club and it comes across that you would have a good time with him in most scenarios. It would also be quite interesting to find out about his pretty impressive rise from non-league football to where he is now. Not only that though, he seems like a lad who wouldn’t let his food go to waste, crucial for any Christmas dinner chef.

Ben K: Ryan Bertrand is a great guy. I spoke and got a picture with him once after a Saints game. As a Chelsea fan, I asked Ryan about starting in the Champions League Final in which the Blues won back in 2012. The player only replied “Yeah it was alright.” If he had been more revitalised, he would be good to have a conversation with. Only thing is, I wouldn’t know where to start when it comes to cooking Christmas dinner!

Dan: Charlie Austin, good bit of banter with a class player and person!

Marc: Probably Maya Yoshida. Seems like he would be a good laugh round the dinner table. Always gives his all for the cause as well, so maybe he would weigh in with some cooking and vegetable chopping on the day too.

Christian: Charlie Austin, he played for Poole Town Football Club which is where I used to live, so we would have plenty to talk about.

Ben W: Without a doubt will have Charlie Austin round for Christmas dinner. Absolute geezer who would not hold back on taking in the calories.

Erik:  Shane Long. My favorite Saint. Love his work ethic and the spark he brings to the team.

Nikos: Maya Yoshida, as I reckon he’d be a good laugh and seems a genuinely decent bloke. And weirdly, having KFC at Christmas is a modern Japanese tradition – that would add an interesting twist.
