You’ve just selected your Secret Santa and you’ve pulled out Virgil van Dijk’s name. What are your getting him for Christmas?

Ed: Given what happened over the summer, I will would buy Van Dijk a Liverpool shirt with his name on the back. His attitude has been poor of late due to the move not happening, so it would feel right to just tease him about it.

Ewan: I’d give him my outstanding Avios air miles, in the hope that he uses them effectively in January.

Jack: his might be one that a lot of people don’t agree with, but I would make Virgil a montage and get highlights of his happiest and best bits for Saints. I’d do this in the hopes that he gets all emotional, maybe cries, and decides he wants to stay forever. He’s not had his best season, but he is still an unbelievable defender who would be incredibly hard to replace. Please Virgil, I know you’re reading this, it is Christmas after all.

Ben K: I’d get Van Dijk a shirt of a team like Chelsea or Liverpool with his name on the back just out of curiosity and to see his reaction. I’m really not sure how he would take it, if he was surrounded by his teammates he would put on a brave face. However, if I gave the present to him and no one was around, he may have a laugh about it.

Dan: A one-way Virgin trains ticket to Manchester.

Marc: A baby’s dummy to try and stop his tantrums, but no toys because otherwise he might throw them out the pram again. In all seriousness, he’s been a top player for Saints and will be a great acquisition for any team in the world, but it would suit all parties for him to be sold in January so the club can reinvest.

Christian: I would get him some slippers as a replacement for his Christmas clogs!

Ben W: (Relatable one for you Chris) Would get him a Kevin Durant jersey so he can join the snake gang.

Erik:  A Manchester City kit.

Nikos: A Liverpool shirt with Lovren on the back, and a note saying “The grass isn’t always greener…”
