Dan Hargraves – youthful splurge

IN

  • Hakim Ziyech – Permanent from Ajax (£30 million)
  • Justin Kluivert – Permanent from Ajax (£15 million)
  • Luciano Vietto – Permanent from Atletico (£16 million)
  • Jonathan Tah – Permanent from Bayer Leverkusen (£20 million)

Now, with the spending, I could’ve put down a lot more players! However, I think that if we were able to somehow get these four then that would count for a great summer window, let alone a January window!

As you may know, I’m a huge fan of Hakim Ziyech of Ajax and would like to think that he’d be the solution to all of our creativity problems. He’s unlikely to come cheap but £30 million would be well worth what he could bring to the side. Plus, we could get Sofiane Boufal, agent B if you like, to convince his fellow Moroccan to join!

Of course this is a dream so realistically I think that getting Luciano VIetto off of Atletico would be a good deal, £20 million should do. Even though he hasn’t been linked with us, I think that going for another Ajax player, this time 19-year-old Justin Kluivert, would really show Redmond how to be a winger. He’s fast, clinical and knows how to pass the ball! £15m bid and he could be ours! I do also think that it’s important we bring in a new center-back, ideally to partner Hoedt.

I would say Christensen would be great but he’s now a regular for Chelsea so a real steal would be going for Jonathan Tah from Leverkusen. He won’t come cheap but if we want to see European nights again he’ll be the perfect quality to stop us conceding these silly goals. I would say a goalkeeper but to be honest, the above is enough and we can hold on with Forster until May!

OUT

  • Virgil van Dijk – Permanent to Liverpool (£75 million)
  • Matt Targett – Permanent to another PL side – (£8-10 million)
  • Josh Sims – Loan to Championship
  • Jake Hesketh – loan to Championship

As for players leaving, I don’t think we need to sell many right now as, even though everyone hates him at the moment, Redmond would be a good squad player for the remainder of the season.

Tadic hasn’t been too awful but I’d sell him in the summer but in terms of THIS window, I’d probably send Josh Sims and Jake Hesketh out on loan to decent Championship sides so that they can get a bit more first-team experience and then re-integrate them into the squad in the summer. I also don’t see the point of having three left-backs whilst we only have 18 (17 when this is published) Premier League games left and however many FA Cup games so I’d personally wave off Matt Targett.

I’ve heard that Watford and Palace are interested in him so if we were offered £8m-£10m then I’d probably take it.
