Harrison Reed – Norwich City

It’s been a mixed season for Harrison Reed.

In a campaign where they were expected to challenge for promotion, Norwich City find themselves in a disappointing 13th position in the Championship after 26 games.

Performances across the team have been inconsistent at best, and the 22-year-old central midfielder hasn’t exactly set the league alight. An early-season goal in the 2-0 against QPR followed by an assist in the 4-2 defeat against Aston Villa suggested this could be his breakthrough campaign.

But since then he has only contributed one further assist. Norwich have failed to boss the midfield in games, and like Southampton have been very light on goals all season.

But at least Reed has featured in 20 league matches so far. Consistent game-time at this level is important for his progression, and Saints will be hoping to benefit from that added maturity and experience.

At 22 he still has time to develop, but expectations are rising. Many of his England youth counterparts are already established in the Premier League, and Southampton will want to see Reed’s ability to do the same.

A late push for the playoff positions will be what Norwich will want to see, and hopefully Reed can now focus and do his part.
