Nicolas Gaitan

Gaitan has been linked with a move England after falling out of favour at current club Atletico Madrid, and Southampton are said to be leading the chase.

The Argentine is capable of playing anywhere across attacking midfield, and this makes him a potentially perfect addition to Saints’ favoured 4-2-3-1 formation. His ability to beat his marker and produce driving runs towards the box would be a welcome addition to Mauricio Pellegrino’s side.

The stats prove that Gaitan could bring the required attacking threat to Southampton’s line-up too. He has accumulated 105 assists and 58 goals playing in high-profile matches at Boca Juniors, Benfica and Atletico Madrid.

A move to the Premier League at this stage of his career could be the boost he needs; especially with him vying for a place in Argentina’s World Cup squad this summer.
