VAR can’t come quick enough

After being ahead for 89 minutes of Saturday’s game, the last thing Saints wanted was to concede a controversial goal like Abdoulaye Doucoure’s.

To make matter worse, it comes at the end of the week that has seen VAR review systems being trialled in English games for the first time.

Perhaps Saints should’ve been in a more commanding position by that point, but a league win that was well within their grasp and would’ve done their confidence the world of good was taken away.

They can’t afford to dwell on this result though, and must take as much positivity as possible towards next weekend’s match at home to in-form Tottenham Hotspur.
