Southampton face Tottenham Hotspur for the second time in a month at St. Mary’s on Sunday, with the home side hoping to avoid the 5-2 humiliation which befell them at Wembley on Boxing Day.
Saints go into the match winless in ten league games, and Mauricio Pellegrino’s side can not be expected to turn that run around against a Spurs side who can score at will, evidenced by the rampant 5-2 win last month.
However, with Hugo Lloris out (illness), there may be a chance for Southampton’s attackers to test former Saints ‘keeper Paulo Gazzaniga, who failed to impress during his time on the south coast.
Spurs won 4-0 against Everton last time out in an impressive performance which saw all of their attacking talent contribute to a goal. Saints, on the other hand, squandered a half-time 2-0 lead to draw against Watford, with Abdoulaye Doucoure scoring a controversial 90th-minute equaliser.
Spurs have a wealth of midfield and attacking talent, but who will cause Saints the most problems?
