Midfielders

Holding Midfield. Southampton. ORIOL ROMEU. 6. Romeu was decent in midfield but still looks a shadow of last season, and a booking means he is just two more cautions away from a two-match ban.

5. Lemina is quickly becoming the new Victor Wanyama – strong, able to retain and regain possession – but cannot pass a football. Like Romeu, needs to regain form to be a key player in what is undoubtedly a relegation battle.. Holding Midfield. Southampton. MARIO LEMINA

Centre Midfield. Southampton. PIERRE-EMILE HOJBJERG. 6. Hojbjerg was again played out of position by Pellegrino, who opted to utilise the Dane in a more advanced role – but the ex-Bayern man lacked the pace needed to break from midfield and transition into attack. An otherwise solid game.

7. Tadic impressed me today. Looked to play balls into the box quicker instead of dallying on the ball and letting the game catch up with him. Could have assisted the winning goal if Obafemi had converted.. Winger. Southampton. DUSAN TADIC

7. Ward-Prowse impressed yet again today, staking a claim for both a starting berth and a seat on the plane to Russia. Set-piece delivery was superb, and a great range of passing shown. The only gripe is his lack of pace, especially when playing in this wide role.. Winger. Southampton. JAMES WARD-PROWSE
