Southampton claimed a 1-0 win against Watford to move into the fifth-round, with Jack Stephens’ goal proving the deciding moment of the game.

During a rather uninspiring match, Stephens took advantage of a goalmouth scramble in the fourth minute to stab home his first goal for the club.

The game lacked attacking quality, and the home Saints support were surprised to see their brightest attacking threat in Sofiane Boufal substituted off for Maya Yoshida with 20 minutes still to play.

However, Southampton would see the game out and end a positive week on a high following a battling point against Tottenham Hotspur and the signing of striker Guido Carrillo. The Argentine also got his first run out at St. Mary’s during the last minutes of the game.
