Goalkeeper and Defenders

Goalkeeper. Southampton. ALEX MCCARTHY. 8. Did not have much to do, but displayed sure hands on balls up high.  Called off his centre-backs a couple times on crosses showing confidence and leadership from the back.

7. Cedric was very solid throughout this game, and looks fit from injury.  Still waiting for him to deliver an assist from the right wing.. Right full-back. Southampton. CEDRIC SOARES

7.5. The better of the two centre-backs today.  He may have been offside on the goal, but it was a clever flick to bag his second in two games.. Centre-back. Southampton. JACK STEPHENS

Centre-back. Southampton. WESLEY HOEDT. 5. For not having to play a lot of defense today, Hoedt should have been better.  His passing was off, and he held onto the ball too long when switching the field and going forward.

It was surprising to see Bertrand on the field after coming off with an injury over the weekend.  Maybe not 100%, but the team used him over and over.  Dusan Tadic really hurt him in the first half, and the forwards did not time his crosses well at all.. Left full-back. Southampton. RYAN BERTRAND. 7
