This weekend Southampton fans tasted victory in the league for the first time in over a dozen matches – it came in the form of a stunning 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion.

The result means that the Saints have lost just once since they sold Virgil van Dijk at the tail end of December, with that defeat coming against Crystal Palace on the 2nd January.

Three wins in six games marks a steady upturn in form which the Saints fans will hope will continue into the Spring months, with Premier League survival very much a concern.

Mauricio Pellegrino, to his credit, deployed a much more attacking line-up yesterday with Mario Lemina and James Ward-Prowse bossing proceedings in the middle. The supporters were happy with Guido Carrillo’s contribution on his first start too.

Jack Stephens also grabbed his third goal in as many games having found the back of the net against Watford in the FA Cup and in the midweek fixture against Brighton.

Whilst Southampton fans remain skeptical about Mauricio Pellegrino’s long-term future, for now they must enjoy one of the side’s best runs of the season.

But what talking points can be drawn from the memorable win?
