Southampton fans very much know what van Dijk is capable of, having been at the club since the start of the 2015/16 season.

On his return to the south-coast, he is due to have a negative welcome from Southampton fans after his mentioned spat with the club during the start of this season, it was clear that the defender did not want to be here.

The player has already commented on his first to St. Mary’s since his departure, quoted “Maybe they can boo the whole game. You can’t do anything about it”, furthermore saying that his main focus would be on winning the game.

The hostile reception could potentially fire the player up more to win the game, and knowing how football works, it wouldn’t be surprising if he was to score a goal from a set-piece to the dismay of many Saints fans.
