Next spell of games must save Saints’ season

A favourable run of fixtures is upcoming for Southampton, and they will need to gain a good amount of points from them to spark an end of season survival charge.

In their next five Premier League fixtures, Saints play Burnley, Stoke, Newcastle, Swansea and West Ham. The Stoke game is the only home match in this run, but it can’t argued that this is one of the periods where Saints must target some wins.

The 15 points on offer could take them past the famous 40-point mark, which is always the milestone which clubs look at to stay in the league.

The FA Cup game away to West Brom next weekend could also provide another boost for the team as they head into those fixtures.
