Yesterday afternoon Southampton left it late with a 90th minute goal from  Manolo Gabbiadini snatching a point at the death.

The Saints were pretty uninspiring for the majority of the affair, with limited chances on goal and Burnley dominating on possession.

The home side eventually took the lead in the second half after a drab first 45, with Ashley Barnes forcing the ball over the line in a controversial fashion. Whilst the Southampton defence should’ve done better to deal with loose ball, it was shown on the replay that Barnes had handled the ball on it’s way into the net whilst also potentially fouling ‘keeper Alex McCarthy.

But the Saints were handed their own large slice of the luck with but minutes remaining, with referee Bobby Madley inadvertently obstructing Burnley’s Westwood, allowing Southampton to regain possession, counter attack, and score through a sweet volley through Gabbiadini,

The results mean the Saints are out of the relegation zone and now sit in 16th – however they are only out of the bottom three on goal difference.

With ten games to go, the Saints are exactly where they need to be come May but they can’t for a second take their foot off the gas. But back to yesterday, who were Southampton’s three key players?
