Saints need to use their away games to good effect

Southampton officially have the second-worst home form in the Premier League this season.

At St. Mary’s, they have won three games, drawn seven and lost six. This record coupled with a goal difference of minus five in those games sees them above only West Brom in the home form table.

In the away results table though, Saints rank 12th and are currently unbeaten in four away matches against Manchester United, Watford, West Brom and Burnley.

This could potentially bode well for the rest of the campaign, with Mauricio Pellegrino’s men facing six away games from their remaining nine Premier League fixtures.

Being on the back foot clearly suits Pellegrino’s style of play despite it dramatically backfiring for most of the season, but the away games that are left may just play into Saints’ hands.
