Yesterday afternoon Southampton were embarrassed by Newcastle United in a game which was been described as the Saints’ worse performance of the season.

Toothless, spineless and pathetic are just a handful of the ways Southampton’s supporters have described their showing away at Newcastle yesterday.

Behind after just two minutes, the entire affair made for drab viewing from a Saints perspective, with Kenedy doubling his tally for the Magpies thanks to a slick counter-attack from the home side near the end of the first half.

Mauricio Pellegrino rolled the dice with two substitutes but any work he put into motion was undone as Matt Ritchie scored Newcastle their third with a sublime low effort on the hour.

Southampton offered relatively little going forward with only sub Josh Sims drawing a proper save from the Newcastle stopper.

Guido Carrillo once again went without scoring, but it came as a result of the 26-year-old remaining isolated for the entirety of his time on the pitch.

But who deserves what rating from yesterday’s drubbing?
