Midfielders

Hojbjerg was often the player trying to bring the ball forward from the defence, and he wasn’t frightened to go fully into his challenges in midfield. He has been a prominent figure inside the club recently since the sacking of Mauricio Pellegrino, and should kwwp his place in the side for the final games of the season.. Centre-Midfield. Southampton. PIERRE-EMILE HOJBJERG. 7

5. Romeu was one of four changes and was included to steady up the midfield. Nothing of particular note came from the Spaniard’s performance on Sunday, but he may be preferred long-term to the recently off colour Mario Lemina.. Centre-Midfield. Southampton. ORIOL ROMEU

6. A solid display from the academy graduate on his 200th appearance for the club, and he will perhaps be another player to see more minutes as a more trusted player. He was certainly unlucky to drop out of the side when he did after a great run of form, and inclusion for the final games could see him reach those levels again.. Right-Midfield. Southampton. JAMES WARD-PROWSE

7. This wasn’t a perfect performance from Tadic (he’s capable of a lot more) but it was a vastly improved display. He operated from the left of a midfield four and seemed to make his decisions much earlier, which is when he can be a threat. He did back out of some challenges during the game which won’t go down well when the team is battling survival. As one of the many Saints players to have used the media to vent their frustrations at the current plight of the team, its time for the Serbian to show the fans that he really is up for the fight.. Left-Midfield. Southampton. DUSAN TADIC
