Jermaine Defoe – Forward

Now for a name that is very much known to all Premier League, and especially Southampton fans  following two stints at arch-rivals Portsmouth, the striker is somewhat considered a villain when he rocks up at St. Mary’s.

The veteran has a record of 162 goals in 490 Premier League appearances, and though again this might sound underwhelming like Callum Wilson’s record, it should be taken into account that he has played for a lot of teams fighting in relegation battles, par his days at Tottenham Hotspur and briefly mentioned Pompey – thus has never really been surrounded by top quality creative players, meaning most goals have been clinical finishes or from great individual effort.

The 35-year-old is now reaching the end of his career, and at Bournemouth hasn’t quite hit the heights of his two last campaigns where he hit 15 in each season, scoring four since moving down south past summer from Sunderland, though as mentioned, his quality in front of goal should be remembered, and if featured will need to have supply lines cut off to prevent any upset for Southampton.
