Southampton 2-1 Bournemouth: Three key players
By Marc Walker
Alex McCarthy
Another great performance from McCarthy, but this time his efforts were rewarded with a win.
He made a number of superb saves to keep Saints ahead and give them a platform to get the three points come full-time.
A vital block in the first-half when Nathan Ake turned in the box was his first, then further excellent saves from Lewis Cook’s long-ranger and two late Ryan Fraser strikes saw him keep Saints ahead.
Whether Saints have their end of season awards remains to be seen, but McCarthy surely will rank highly among the fans Players of the Season.
