A cruel late twist in Southampton’s 1-1 draw with Everton saw a vital win stolen from the Saints with the last kick of the game.

Nathan Redmond’s first goal of the season had seen Mark Hughes’ men take a deserved lead in the 56th minute after creating much of the game’s best patterns of play.

However, Tom Davies’ deflected strike with the last kick of the game snatched a point for the Toffees and left Southampton players and fans shell-shocked.

Despite the late setback, a superb performance from the Saints players must be praised and used as motivation in their clash with Swansea on Tuesday night; a game that defender Maya Yoshida will miss after he was sent off for two yellow cards.
