Southampton took a huge step towards Premier League safety with a 1-0 win over Swansea City on Tuesday.

The result sees the Saints move onto 36 points and feeling significantly more comfortable than Huddersfield and Swansea ahead of the final matchday of the season.

Manolo Gabbiadini grabbed the match-winning goal after 72 minutes when he was on hand to turn home following a goalmouth scramble.

It was an understandably cagey affair for the most part but Southampton were able to produce the clearest goalscoring opportunities. Jubilant scenes from the fans, players and staff met the final whistle as the team all but confirmed their Premier League status for another year.
