Southampton’s 2017/18 season often lacked moments to get the fans at St Mary’s off their seats in excitement.

Poor displays and results meant they were stuck in a relegation scrap in the final games of the season but managed to escape under the leadership of newly appointed boss Mark Hughes.

There were some brief glimpses of the quality that we all know is in the under-performing squad, with Sofiane Boufal and Mario Lemina goals providing highlights and contenders for goal of the season.

However, some goals scored went somewhat under the radar, and the skill involved in them was perhaps overshadowed by overall results as the team slipped down the table.
