Southampton: 3 underrated goals from Saints’ 2017/18 season
By Marc Walker
3. Steven Davis vs Everton
This strike from club captain Davis rounded off a rare convincing win for the Saints as they thrashed Everton 4-1 at St Mary’s.
He received a pass from James Ward-Prowse on the edge of the area and took one touch before curling a lovely strike into the far corner and past Jordan Pickford.
This goal was the third of his 2017/18 campaign and all three came in the first three months of season.
However, his number of appearances was reduced by being out of favour and an achilles problem that kept him out of 10 of the last 11 league matches.
As one of the more experienced players in the Saints team, his value remains strong to the club for the time being and he will hope for more involvement in 2018/19.
