Transfer activity at St Mary’s has been limited so far this summer despite the need for additions before the next campaign.

Mark Hughes will be wanting to add quality to his Southampton squad in order to take his team back up the Premier League table and away from another relegation battle in 2018/19.

Incoming players may mean a few outgoings to make space in the key areas that are likely to be added to. Defensive and attacking additions could be seen by the first league game in August against Burnley.

The Saints hierachy will be wanting to put things right following a poor past season and after missing out on James Maddison to Leicester City.
