Fulham make £10m bid for Targett

Fulham have acted on their reported interest in signing Saints full-back Matt Targett permanently and made a sizeable offer for the 22-year-old.

According to Sky Sports though, Saints still see him as part of their plans for next season and beyond and aren’t interested in selling him.

Targett spent the last campaign on loan at Craven Cottage and impressed as he became a key part of their team. He also played in the Championship play-off final against Aston Villa in which Fulham achieved promotion to the Premier League with a win.

Opportunities at St Mary’s have been fairly limited for him with Ryan Bertrand at the club but his form during the last season perhaps helped to show that he can still be a key part of Mark Hughes’ plans.
