Miguel Almiron

Although naturally a central player for Atlanta United in the MLS, Almiron once again possesses great natural pace and if the Saints are to set up in a 3-4-2-1 style formation which some have suggested they may, then the Paraguayan could thrive in an inside forward role.

In 17 MLS games so far this campaign, Almiron has scored six and set up another eight – in total he has scored 15 times in 47 games, having moved to the USA last January to join the new franchise.

Currently the 24-year-old plays in a 3-5-2 set-up in the MLS with his side, meaning he’s already adept to playing with wing-backs over his shoulder – there’s no reason why he couldn’t fill the void vacated by Sofiane Boufal when he leaves.

With an orthodox #9 such as Austin or a new arrival down the middle and Elyounoussi and Almiron supporting either side, Southampton could be very dangerous going forward.
