Steven Bergwijn

With Justin Kluivert stealing the limelight thanks to his dad’s pedigree, there hasn’t been a huge amount of coverage of Steven Bergiwijn’s breakthrough season in the Eredivisie in the mainstream media. This isn’t helped by the fact that fellow wingers Hirving Lozano and Alireza Jahanbakhsh enjoyed great seasons in the Dutch first division too.

However, Bergwijn enjoyed a really good season for PSV, featuring most predominantly down the right but showing his versatility with a good amount of appearances down the other flank too.

He scored eight goals and set up a further 11, an impressive return as the youngest player to make this list at just 20.

The Dutchman has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest teams but at such a tender age, a move to an elite team could tarnish his growth as a player rather than push it to the next level. A move to Southampton may only be a stepping stone, but the Saints could enjoy a great couple of years out of the youngster.
