Southampton: 5 Premier League transfer flops for Saints

Southampton striker Guido Carillo joined La Liga side Leganes today after an unsuccessful spell at St Mary’s.

His £19m fee makes him one of the most expensive flops in Southampton’s history and he will hope to get some more game-time under former Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino in Spain.

Recruitment on the South Coast has been largely good since the club’s return to the Premier League, and has needed to be following the sales of a number of first-team players.

However, there have been some signings that haven’t worked out for Saints in their recent history, and here are five players who have not been good additions to the team in the past six years.
