Nathan Redmond

Redmond was highly impressive in Saints’ first pre-season game against Schalke and continued that form here.

Operating in an attacking-midfield two with Stuart Armstrong, he got forward well and linked the play nicely outside the area on occasion.

He also took his pre-season goals tally to two in two games to level the score at 2-2 just before half-time. A James Ward-Prowse corner was fumbled by the Jiangsu keeper and the ball fell kindly for Redmond to side-foot home powerfully.

With Armstrong and Mohamed Elyounoussi coming in to play a similar role to him, Redmond’s bright form could not have come at a better time for him and the squad.
