Pre-season analysis: Southampton 3-2 Celta Vigo

We HAVE to keep Targett
After a couple of weeks of peace, rumours have re-emerged in the last day or so suggesting that Fulham may offer the Saints up to £15 million this time for Matt Targett, having previously offered around £10 and £12 million.
Southampton are apparently looking to acquire more funds before spending again, and the promoted side are supposedly keen on tapping into that, as the Saints look unlikely to bring in much cash from potential sales of Sam Gallagher or loan of Fraser Forster.
Nonetheless, Targett came on and played at right-wing-back in the second half today, something of a surprise as Harrison Reed was available in the matchday squad. The former has a good weak foot however, suggesting he may have potential to play on the other side when Cedric is injured or suspended.
Tonight, he tallied up two assists, setting up Austin for his composed header with a sublime cross off of his right foot, before cleverly teeing up Armstrong for his goal minutes later.
We can certainly hope Targett isn’t trying to show off his talents to potential employers with this superb performance, as it seems like he may of really matured in the past eight months. We have to keep hold of him.
