Yesterday lunchtime Southampton drew 0-0 with Burnley in their Premier League opener, but impressed many fans with their second-half performance.

It wasn’t the result we hoped for, especially as a dominant 0-0 was the exact way the Saints started their last campaign, when they faced Swansea in Mauricio Pellegrino’s first competitive game in charge.

Nonetheless, Southampton have points on the board and go into their next two games against Everton and Leicester respectively with a good performance under their belts however, as they played really well in the second-half and were unlucky not to come away with more.

However Burnley remain a difficult side to break down under Sean Dyche, as they perfectly nullified the threat of Southampton’s two attacking full-backs and forced Mark Hughes to switch his formation around the hour mark, deploying a 4-4-2 formation unseen in pre-season.

Fans are now calling for the Welshman to setup his Southampton side in that same way for the game against Everton, with the threat of Elyounoussi and Redmond out wide perfectly blending with the workrate of Oriol Romeu and Mario Lemina in the middle.

But how exactly did each player perform yesterday?
