Puel’s second return to St. Mary’s
Following his Southampton sacking last summer, Claude Puel was appointed as Leicester City boss following the Foxes’ sacking of Craig Shakespeare. In one of his first games in charge, his side ran away as 4-1 victors over Mauricio Pellegrino’s Saints.
Although the reverse fixture finished goalless at the King Power, Puel’s return to St. Mary’s stuck with many as one of the Saints’ worst performances of the whole campaign, alongside the 3-0 loss to Newcastle which eventually saw the Argentinian get sacked.
With most of the Saints’ first-team squad still around, the result from the last campaign will almost certainly stick in their minds and they need to use it as motivation to get revenge this afternoon.
