Southampton claimed their first win of the season on Tuesday as they beat Brighton in the Second-Round of the Carabao Cup.

After collecting one point from their opening three Premier League games, a morale boosting victory came here courtesy of Charlie Austin’s 87th minute header.

10 changes from the 2-1 loss to Leicester last weekend saw the likes of Manolo Gabbiadini, Maya Yoshida and Steven Davis return to the fold.

Some good performances came from Mark Hughes’ much changed side at the AMEX, and some players will have certainly given him food for thought ahead of upcoming fixtures.
