Southampton battled to a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday and released any early season pressure that had built up.

Goals from Danny Ings and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg were the difference at Selhurst Park, although late pressure from Palace had to dealt with for the Saints to secure the three points.

A number of players put in impressive shifts for Mark Hughes’ side and they perhaps reached the levels of performance that they will need to replicate to win more games.

After the high of two wins in a week in league and cup, the international break potentially comes at a bad time for Saints. They return to action at home to Brighton on Monday 17th looking to provide the St Mary’s crowd with a good display.
