Crystal Palace 0-2 Southampton 01/09/18: 3 Key Players
By Marc Walker
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Last weekend he was the villain with a foolish red card, but at Selhurst Park he proved value for the team with an all action display.
A change in the role that he played seemed to bring out a new side to his game that Saints fans haven’t seen before. Partnered in Central-Midfield with Mario Lemina, it was he that took on the attacking responsibilities.
He had most touches of the ball out of all the players involved and his three shots on goal was the joint-most in the Saints team.
Hojbjerg’s most significant contribution would come in injury time though. When it would be acceptable for him to be on his last legs, it was him bursting through to collect Matt Targett’s pass and finish well with his left foot.
Redemption for the Dane, and it seems like we might see the best of him in this new position.
