Southampton claimed their first Premier League win of the season on Saturday afternoon as they overcame Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park.
Danny Ings opened the scoring with his second Saints goal shortly after half-time, and Charlie Austin’s penalty miss looked like it could be costly as Crystal Palace ramped up the late pressure.
However, the defence held strong and a lighting-quick counter saw Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg put the result beyond doubt in injury time.
Some strong performances from many members of Mark Hughes’ side saw them home, but they were also grateful for another top display from Alex McCarthy in goal.
