The Saints play host to the Seagulls, having beaten their fellow south-coast neighbours 1-0 in the League Cup around two weeks ago, and therefore will be looking to replicate the same outcome this Monday coming.

Southampton have won two of their last three competitive games, and now look like they could be on the up in the league following an impressive display against Crystal Palace before the international break – which saw them win 2-0 at Selhurst Park.

Following a slow start to the campaign, Saints manager Mark Hughes will be looking to turn their recent form into some good momentum for the rest of the season, as the club strive to have a more successful campaign than their last – Brighton standing in their way this Monday.

On the flip side, Brighton have a similar record to the ‘red and white’ in the Premier League so far, having lost two, drawn one and won one game in the opening four games of the campaign – though they have had some challenging opposition in high flying Watford, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Their last two fixtures, in which they beat United 3-2, and drew 2-2 with Fulham, means that the Seagulls are not in bad form themselves – and therefore will be looking to build on that form just as Saints will be, so which three players could do that for Chris Hughton’s men?
