Southampton vs Brighton 17/09/18: Opposition Threat
By Edward Waugh
Anthony Knockaert – Brighton
The French midfielder helped the Seagulls to promotion to the Premier League back in the 2016/17 campaign, and has been able to hold down a starting place since reaching England’s top flight – to which he was unable to do with Leicester City back in the day, hence the move.
So far this campaign, the winger has secured two assists in his first four games with Brighton, double of what he had achieved in 42 Premier League performances before that, and therefore will be looking to carry this form into the game against Saints at the end of this weekend’s fixtures.
Knockaert usually plays out on the right, and therefore Southampton’s captain in Ryan Bertrand will have the job of being matched up against the Frenchman – ensuring that he does not get crosses into the box for Glenn Murray will be vital in cutting out any threat from the Seagulls in this upcoming fixture.
