Ruben Neves – Midfielder

The Portuguese man joined last season’s Championship outfit with many raised eyebrows, Neves had been tipped for a great future having captained FC Porto’s first team at the age of 19 – playing in Champions League nights and was thought to be looking to move to one of Europe’s elite, so when he rocked up at Wolves, many questioned his intent/decision.

The holding-midfielder was the standout player in England’s second tier as he controlled games and pushed Wolves to an easy promotion push without any real competition par Cardiff City for a brief stint – and this season has again proven to those interested what he is capable of.

In six appearances so far, the former-Porto man has scored one, and assisted another, scoring a fabulous free kick against Everton on the opening day of the season.

Southampton will likely need to pack out the midfield at the weekend, the addition of Oriol Romeu to the midfield again will help in breaking down Neves’ keen eye for a dangerous pass or ability to strike one from deep – all of his goals in English football coming from outside the box.

The need for an anchor man will also be needed for this next player on the list.
