The return of Ings

Southampton had just one shot on target last week against Liverpool, something which correlated with the absence of Danny Ings. The English forward is the Saints’ leading scorer with three goals so far this season but couldn’t face his parent club as per his loan agreement.

However, he’s expected to return today and will provide a much-needed boost to the Saints’ attack, as they look to get back on the winning trail.

WIth Shane Long almost certainly missing the game, it remains unclear who Hughes will partner Ings with – fellow former-Burnley man Charlie Austin or the more technically-gifted Manolo Gabbiadini.

Whatever happens the Saints are a lot more threatening on the front foot with the return of the 26-year-old as he’ll look to score his fourth goal in just six appearances today.
