Tomorrow night Southampton travel to Goodison Park to face Everton in the third round of the Carabao Cup – they come into the match off the back of a weekend defeat to Wolves.

The Toffees meanwhile beat Fulham in their last Premier League game, and were comfortable victors over Rotherham in the second round of the cup in order to get to where they are now.

Southampton meanwhile defeated Brighton to make it through to the third round, in what is just one of two wins all season for the Saints. Mark Hughes’ side come into the midweek clash off the back of consecutive losses, having been thrashed by Liverpool before throwing a point away late against Wolves two days ago.

The Welshman is already under severe pressure from the fanbase after a poor start to the campaign, but a confidence-boosting cup run could do great things for his team’s morale. In addition, the Saints players will almost certainly want to avenge their defeat at the hands of Everton around a month ago, where two first-half goals saw Marco Silva’s side onto victory.

But defeat would have supporters calling for the 54-year-old’s head, as his side lack an obvious direction and aren’t showing the same passion we saw from them at the tail end of last season.

But who should the Saints’ defence be wary of when the two teams meet tomorrow evening?
