Southampton overcame Everton on penalties last night to progress to the Fourth-Round of the Carabao Cup and set up a meeting with Leicester City.

Danny Ings had given Southampton the lead during the 90 minutes, but Saints academy graduate Theo Walcott levelled the scores in the latter stages.

However, Walcott would then have his penalty saved by the superb Angus Gunn to leave Cedric to convert his spot-kick and claim the 4-3 shoot-out victory.

Saints boss Mark Hughes named a strong line-up ahead of the game and included a number of players who played at the weekend.

This came despite predictions of many changes and it would eventually pay off after progression to the last-16 stage.
