Nathan Redmond

Outside of the scoring antics of Danny Ings and the goalkeeping heroics of Alex McCarthy, Nathan Redmond has arguably been the Saints’ best player this season. He seems to have a lot more confidence than he did under Mauricio Pellegrino and that’s translating into good performances.

Last night the winger played in the three-man front-line alongside Manolo Gabbiadini and Ings, and he flourished with the freedom – setting up Ings’ goal in the 44th minute with a nice pass to his fellow Englishman.

This season Redmond has averaged an impressive 2.6 dribbles per game in the league and clearly that form has transferred into his performances in the cup as well. We can only hope he can start to find the back of the net himself in the coming weeks as well.
