Southampton limp into the international break after a string of poor results in league play and a relegation scrap is looking ever more likely.
Mark Hughes decided to go with a 3-4-3 formation to start against a high-powered Chelsea side that was led by Eden Hazard. Showing right from the start Southampton were willing to concede possession and absorb as much pressure as possible in their own half.
The Saints had a couple of good chances to put the ball in the back of the net but they could not capitalize on any of the chances and ended up losing 3-0 to the now co-leaders of the Premier League. Failing again to get points at home and continuing to flirt with the bottom of the table
