Southampton claimed a potentially precious point at Bournemouth yesterday and could have even left with a win after some great late chances.

Opportunities to snatch victory fell to Stuart Armstrong and Manolo Gabbiadini in the last 10 minutes, but they would miss and Southampton would have to be content with a 0-0 draw.

A lot was made about the differing seasons of the two sides before kick-off, but a determined performance from Saints saw them nullify the threats that Bournemouth possess and cause problems in attack themselves.

Results like this can be the start of something and Mark Hughes will be hoping his men can string together more points in the upcoming games.
