Southampton: Five alternatives to Jardim if Saints sack Mark Hughes
By Chris Hughes
Peter Bosz
As a former Borussia Dortmund manager, many people’s first thoughts would be that Bosz is out of the Saints’ reach. However, the Dutchman is without a job in nearly a year and prior to his big move to BVB his managerial CV didn’t set the world alight.
In the 17 years since he started managing prior to taking the Dortmund job, all bar one of them was in his native country with only a short spell in Israel to note. However, he impressed during his recent spell with Ajax and in the three years before that in which he managed Vitesse.
The 54-year-old is one of the best managers out there currently unemployed with the exclusion of Zidane, Wenger and Conte. That means the Saints wouldn’t have to pay a premium to pry him off of another club and he’d also be motivated to join the struggling side.
Despite getting the sack so soon after joining, Bosz’s Dortmund side played some free-flowing attacking football which is something may Southampton fans have been desperate to see return to St. Mary’s. On paper he seems a possible option.
