Salomon Rondon – Forward

Despite his injury and uncertainty of even playing in this match it would be in poor judgment to not mention Newcastle’s best scoring threat. That is the 29-year-old Venezuelan Salomon Rondon who is a big physical striker that is good in the air and could cause headaches for Saints,’ centre-backs.

Recent years have seen Saints defenders struggle in the air. That is where Rondon excels as 10 of his 24 career Premier League goals have come from his head. Saints defenders have shown slight improvements recently against aerial threats but it would be a bit of a sigh of relief is he is not included on the team sheet come Saturday.

If healthy, he adds another level of attack that Newcastle have desperately been searching for. Much like the Saints, Newcastle have only scored six times this season and Rondon would be a welcome sight in the starting XI for them on Saturday.
