A late Watford equaliser and poor refereeing decisions denied Southampton a first home win of the 2018/19 season yesterday.

Manolo Gabbiadini opened the scoring in the 20th minute and Charlie Austin thought he had doubled the home side’s lead midway through the second-half.

However, it was disallowed for offside and this eventually gave the visitors the chance to level the game through Jose Holebas late on.

Saints now go into the international break looking to build on a good performance when they return to face Fulham on the 24th November.
