A 3-2 loss to Fulham yesterday perhaps confirmed that Southampton are truly in another relegation battle and have a lot to do to save themselves.

Despite a good attacking display at Craven Cottage, it would be poor defending and decision making from Saints that enabled the home side to take a precious win.

An impressive performance from Stuart Armstrong saw him net his first two goals in a Saints shirt, but Fulham were able to reply through an Aleksandar Mitrovic brace and an Andre Schurrle strike.

The game was billed as a must win for Mark Hughes and his side and it remains to be seen whether he will keep his job or not in the coming week. For Claudio Ranieri though, his tenure at Fulham couldn’t have got off to a better start.
