Midfielders

Midfielder-Nathan Redmond- 8.5

Nathan Redmond was superb in his performance against Jose Mourinho’s men. The number 22 gave his opposition no rest, continually making incisive runs, and demonstrating good ball control. The Saints’ first goal showed the attacker at his best.

After driving at the box, Redmond kept the ball from two defenders and then calmly found Michael Obafemi, who in turn picked out the goal-scorer.

Midfielder-Stuart Armstrong- 8

Stuart Armstrong’s inclusion in the side has been a revelation. As with the match against Fulham, the Scotsman brought with him, extra threat, intelligent playmaking, and a good finish.

Armstrong’s latest goal saw him in plenty of space, and virtually unmarked in the penalty area. The midfielder’s finish against David de Gea came with all the, composed confidence That the Saints have lacked this season.

Midfielder-Mario Lemina- 8

The former Juventus player showed his class as he battled the likes of World Cup winner Paul Pogba. Lemina help to ensure that the Frenchman looked distinctly ordinary for most of the night.

Unfortunately, the one time the Gabonese international allowed Pogba too much space the United man found a good pass to undo Mark Hughes’ men and contribute to MUFC’s opening goal.

Despite the setback it was a strong evening’s work for Lemina.

Midfielder-Pierre-Emile Højbjerg- 6.5

Despite giving the ball away and being sloppy on more than one occasion, the Dane showed effort and worked hard.

Like several of his colleagues, Højbjerg was left looking rather daft as his side conceded the leveler. The captain struggled to anticipate or react to the quick ball in to his vicinity. As a result, he could do nothing about the inevitable goal.
